Vermintide

Hi guys.

Would just like to put a shout out to the Vermintide tournament Neil Williamson is running next month.
It is a one dayer which makes it really accessible, and with armies being only 1200pts it makes for some really interesting fun games.

I had a blast last year, and am definitely going. Have to defend my title :)

Neil runs a really smooth tournament so come along and play some really tactical fun games.

and I promise I won't bring a lvl4 this time......

New GW FAQ's are up.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=cat440134a&categoryId=1000018&section=&pIndex=2&aId=3000006&start=3&multiPageMode=true

I find these ones the most interesting and potentially game changing:

Q: If a character has the Book of Secrets, may they take magic items
or Gifts of Chaos that are only available to Wizards or listed as
‘Sorcerers only’? (p115).
A: No.

Page 115 – Magic Banners, Banner of Rage.
Add “If given to a unit of cavalry, both the riders and their
mounts count as affected elements for the purposes of the Extra
Attack special rule.”

Page 83 – Monstrous Cavalry.
In the second paragraph, replace “All the cavalry rules…with
one exception – monstrous cavalry always use the highest
Wounds characteristic…” with “All the cavalry rules…with
two exceptions – monstrous cavalry always use the highest
Toughness and Wounds characteristics…”

Q: If a unit charges into combat and, on the turn it charges, the last
of the enemy unit it is fighting are removed as casualties due to
Daemonic Instability, the Unstable special rule, Cornered Rats or as
a result of a War Machine failing its Break test, does the charging
unit get to make an Overrun move? (p58).
A: No.

FINALLY banner of rage is clarified. Also awesome news about monstrous cav...cause they need a boost :/
Good for my Peg bsb though.

Pew Pew Pew fantasy edition

So Skitterleap will be the first tournament for my Dark Elves. I have been running some lists through Army Builder, and decided to run a very shooty list.

I am looking after Master Beards DE while he is in Aus, so I had options to run a normal DE list, but wanted to try something a bit different.
This is what I have come up with after a few practice games. I played High Elves and Daemons the other weekend and both were small wins to the DE. They were a change for me, as you really have to concentrate a lot in the movement phase, and also pick your targets very carefully. Not at all like my Orcs, which are a lot more forgiving.

Dreadlord
Black Dragon

Shield
Seadragon cloak
Whip of Agony
Eternal servitude
dragonbane gem
Black dragon egg

Master BSB

Shield
Lance
Pegasus
Pendant
Enchanted shield
Sorceress Lvl 2
DARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steed
Tomb of furion
Lifetaker

6 Dark Riders - Muso - RXB
6 Dark Riders - Muso - RXB
7 Dark Riders - Muso - RXB
7 Dark Riders - Muso - RXB
5 Harpies

6 Shades

7 Shades
6 Coldone Knights - FC

2 Bolt throwers
Hydra

The changes I made from last weekend were dropping the Peg from the sorcerer to get the Harpies in, as I can only have 3 flying units. It also allowed me to get the Pendant on the BSB and Lifetaker on the Sorceress.
I have decided to run Dark magic as the low casting costs and killer 6th spell really turn me on....

So some army stats;

  1. Dragon...Yum
  2. Lots of magic missiles
  3. 78 Xbow shots per turn
  4. 3 Lifetaker shots
  5. 2-12 Bolt thrower shots
  6. 3 Breath weapons
So what do you guys think?
